From Data Science to Understanding Players: Building Game Success from Data Analytics and User Research
Monday 23 May 2016 – 13:00 – 18:15 – TU Delft
Nowadays, most video games capture huge amounts of player data. Understanding players’ behaviour is crucial to the success of a game, but… is it enough to register as much player data as possible? How can we make sense of all that data? Can we go beyond the ‘what happened’ into the ‘why it happened’ ? This seminar brings together researchers and game industry partners, and it should appeal to everyone interested in understanding player behaviour across any game context, from AAA, F2P to learning- and serious games. It includes talks on the two main approaches for dealing with player research in games, and a panel, discussing the deployment of game data analytics and user research in practice.
